Thaw

Come and provide me with the shelter that I crave
Come and provide me with the warmth I need
Wrap your arms around and around me
Until I can hear your heart beat and feel your pulse

Let me bury my face against your chest
And close my eyes against all the world
Your soft warm hands will block my ears
No more will they fill with screams and cries

Carry me past treachery and danger
Land me in a place that is safe and quiet and calm
Protect me there from relapses of madness
Quell all my fears and keep them at bay

I will let your warmth penetrate me
I will open my heart to your peace
But stay close to me and guide me
As I begin to thaw
